Rangers/Brewers/Cardinals/Brewers.................. The Three Stooges?

With the Tigers/Ranger rain out of game 2, there was some time to take a look at what promises to be a very exciting end to the 2011 Major League Baseball season. In a non alcoholic vision, I realized that the final four teams remaining are just like my heroes "The Three Stooges".

The Cardinals are Moe, The Tigers are Larry and the Rangers are the perfect Curly. And the Brewers?????? They represent Joe. You remember Joe don't you? He was the one that never quite fit in. And we knew that his time on the screen was very limited. He over acted and soon he was just a distant memory.

This is what we see in at least this version of the Brew Crew. The great fans of Milwaukee are so desperate for winner that they find justification for tolerating players like Nyjer "T-Plush" Morgan and Prince "Look at Me" Fielder. These are only the headliners, when you add Yuniesky Betancourt, Francisco Rodriguez and Carlos Gomez you see a team that will surely implode at some point and time. Even the Brewers front office realizes the potential problems as the decision was made early in the year to risk losing Fielder while securing Ryan Braun well into the future.

Don't be fooled by the hugs at the end of the Diamondback series. With Morgan leading the charge there was more self promotion than a Floyd Mayweather press conference. The Brewers are Morgan's third team and he seems destined to follow the path of "Flaps Down" Jeff Leonard and wear his welcome thin sooner than later. By the time he is through, he may break Kenny Lofton's record of playing for 16 teams. Too bad he doesn't have Lofton's class.

And then there is Fielder. With the playoffs looming, he made sure he got his own headline by almost guaranteeing he would not be back with the club. What a wonderful example he is as a team leader. Unlike Morgan, Fielder's next contract should keep him with one team. The Cubs, Angels or Braves and others will come calling soon and Prince will take his anger elsewhere.

Who knows, maybe he ends up with the Rangers. At that point........ I may not think he fits the Curly profile, but I could see him being a good Shemp, maybe he is not that bad a guy after all...................... JDaddy
